“I Know it’s Wintertime and People are Trying to Stay Warm,”

A family in Mobile, Al warns others to keep safe during the cold as they mourn the loss of a relative through a possible electric fire

“It takes a lot out of you to see a person, a caring and loving person, leave that way. The fire was just scary, ” mentions one family member as they recall the events.

Still under investigation, MFRD believes this was an accident.

Family members believe the fire likely came from an electrical system that was overloaded in the aging home–likely strained by portable heaters as he tried to keep warm.

Brother of the deceased ended by saying, “I know it’s wintertime and people are trying to keep warm, especially if you have kids, be protective of them and be safe during the winter months.”

Be sure to take extra caution as cold winter is in the forecast for the gulf coast.

A retired senior woman in her 70s sits at home inside her cold house in winter. It is so cold that she is wrapped up in warm winter clothing, and is holding her hands over an electric heater for some extra warmth and comfort. Selective focus with room for copy space.
